Jennifer Coolidge Says She Gets More Guys From White Lotus Than She Ever Did From American Pie
"Even though I play a complete weirdo in White Lotus, cute guys come up to me," she told The Sunday Times on Sunday. "This is far better than American Pie because people were really sad about Tanya falling off a boat. These men like you better because they feel that you went through something. That show really upped my game!"
"Look, I got a lot of benefits out of Stifler's Mom — believe me.... They might be over now, but once in a while you still get a Stifler’s mom thing," she joked. The last American Pie franchise film Coolidge appeared in was American Reunion, in 2012. It was her odd and unpredictable Tanya McQuoid, who traveled first to Hawaii and then on to Italy for The White Lotus' second season, that has ushered in both a career renaissance and a dating renaissance for Coolidge.
Girls, are we surprised by this news? Is anyone left scratching their head after it's been made clear that a (rich) damsel in distress pulls more than a "hot mom"? A little bit! Especially considering the following is usually true:
While boys and men of all ages love the timeless trope of "getting with your friend's mom," when it comes down to it, being the girl who needs a hero will win 10/10 times. It doesn't matter how old you are - these bros have a carnal need to PROTECT. What do they want more than to be taken care of? TO TAKE CARE OF YOU! It's in their genetic makeup, whether you're actually a damsel or not. Tanya McQuoid of course, is our ultimate damsel. Sad, moping, more money than she knows what to do with and a clearly troubled past...just crazy enough to keep things interesting and once they aren't anymore...pull a Greg I guess??
Jennifer has not only had a resurgence with the girls and the gays, she's bringing her Emmy winning ass out to the clurb and snatching up some hot guys too. Sure, she may not be as rich, aloof or sad as her White Lotus character, but she's a hell of a lot smarter. She knows when to play it up, when to dumb it down and when it call it quits - which is a far cry from how she would handle relationships in her earlier career years:
Coolidge, now 63, went on to explain that she felt so confident with the amount of people who were “interested” in working with her at the time that she “dilly-dallied” in her professional life.
“I wanted this guy that I was obsessed with. I wanted him to like me, so I went completely off-track,” she confessed. “I wasted a lot of time — and that moment passes. And, God, if I could live my life over again, I wouldn’t have done what I did.”
“It was guys and, well, everyone wants certain things in their life at a certain time,” she shared. “I was trying to have relationships with men who were unavailable, or there are guys out there who really hate women deep down and I certainly dated them.”
Kudos to Jennifer who eventually learned that men ain't shit (until you've figured out how to use them to your advantage) and about time she's attracting the right kind of fun. I am missing her character in this season of The White Lotus but her spirit lives on within the show…and I do have a sneaking suspicion we will at LEAST get some kind of flashback. Greg's in Thailand, after all!
