"This Guy Who Says He's My Fucking Best Friend. These Guys Are Just Weird." - LeBron Went Full Scorched Earth And Decided To Also Take Some Shots At Brian Windhorst

If you've been online today, it's hard to avoid the LEBRONVERSATION that took place on Pat McAfee's show. Earlier today I blogged about how he took his clean shot at Stephen A for going on a press tour following their confrontation, which was to be expected to some degree. You knew he was going to be asked about it, and he certainly didn't hold back.
What I did not expect to hear was LeBron deciding to go scorched Earth and also take some shots at another ESPN personality in Brian Windhorst
I was all for backing LeBron when he went after Stephen A, because what he said was true. Stephen A did immediately go on a press tour about that beef. But where we draw the line with this stuff is Windy. I don't think I've ever heard Windy say that he's LeBron's best friend. Sure, he may have started being the "LeBron Guy" when he was in high school and his early days in the Cavs, but in reality, everything Windy has said recently about their relationship suggests the opposite
It was just in 2022 that he talked about how their relationship is pretty much dead. That's a little different than suggesting he's LeBron's best friend. Plus, Windy has turned himself into a legit NBA reporter and one of the more respected media voices in the league. I wouldn't exactly suggest he's still riding off LeBron's coattails or that he tries to make it seem like they have some sort of awesome relationship. None of that matters in 2025!
If anything, this was one part of LeBron's appearance that he felt more like a bully than anything else. As someone who would prefer to go the hate route when it comes to LeBron and the Lakers, I'm glad this happened. Windy may not be best friends with LeBron, but does he want us to believe nobody in LeBron's camp reaches out and talks to Windy? Does LeBron think we're stupid? Of course they do! It may not be LeBron himself doing it, but it's not as if Windy makes shit up out of nowhere. It most likely came from Klutch/Rich Paul etc.
I get that LeBron may have been projecting a little bit and was still worked up about Stephen A and unfortunately Windy caught a stray, but that does sort of hurt his overall point. Yes, NBA media figures are very weird. That's true. But Windy isn't really in the "hot take" game like Stephen A or Colin Cowherd etc. He's about as credible and by the book as it comes in today's NBA media landscape, so LeBron saying shit like that is pretty lame.
My guess is Windy will mostly ignore this, unlike Stephen A who you know is going to make his part a whole to do. One guy needs the drama to stay relevant, the other guy just reports on the news. Not sure why LeBron has a problem with the latter.
