Congrats To Rafael Devers For Setting An MLB Record With 10 Strikeouts In The First Three Games Of The Season!

What a start of the season for Red Sox third base….sorry DH Rafael Devers! When Alex Bregman signed with Boston this off-season Devers spent the first few weeks exlcaiming that third base was his spot and he wasn't going to DH. Seems like that would do wonders for team chemistry and for sure was a great welcoming gift to Bregman. Eventually it seems he either wised up or straight up was told that third base was Bregman's spot and Devers would be DHing. So he's already kind of ruined the vibes before the season even started, but at least once the games were played I'm sure he'd play well, right?

Wrong. He's struck out 10 times in the first 3 games, a new MLB record. So not only did he stir up all types of shit and refuse to move from a position that he is awful at defensively, but now he's quite literally Chris Davis and is addicted to striking out.

Some guys just aren't as good at the plate when DHing, they need to be involved in the game and stay focused, they can't hang out on the bench and then head up the plate, it doesn't work for some folks. And although it's early maybe that is what Devers is going to have to deal with. He was legit crazy to think he should play third over Bregman, as he's statistically one of the worst defensive guys out there. Bregman won a Gold Glove quite literally last season.

Maybe the Red Sox could have handled the announcement a little better too? Dropping it right before Opening Day may have gotten Devers in his feelings? 0-12 with 10 Ks seems to suggest that.

There has to be a correlation between this off-season and all the things that transpired and his performance on the field so far. Maybe Devers should have just accepted the position change and let the much better player play at the position he was signed to? Who's to say?
