Ridiculous Finish, Half Court Shot, Terrell Owens Going Nuts - Somehow The NIT Championship Was The Best Game We've Had In March
I know people aren't locked into the NIT, especially when we have The Crown going on right now. You can only dedicate so much attention to second tier basketball events. That's why I was able to lock in for a few minutes and care because the NIT delivered the best game of March we've had so far. I'm not even lying.
Sure, the stakes are nowhere near Colorado State/Maryland or Texas Tech/Florida, but the NCAA Tournament has sucked so far. I say that as someone whose entire life is dedicated around this sport. We've had minimal moments. That's what the NCAA Tournament is all about. I don't care about Cinderella, I care about close games and getting those moments where everyone goes nuts all at once. We had a couple Clayton shots, the Williams shots against Arkansas and obviously Queen vs Colorado State. Other than that? Yeah, nothing. Kevin Willard's hostage situation or Rico Busco. That's about it.
Back to the NIT. You have it at Hinkle, which is awesome. I know MSG and the NIT history, but playing at Hinkle feels right. You had Chattanooga vs UC Irvine because of the Crown taking all the high major teams. Fine. I'll watch some good mid-major basketball, just like Terrell Owens

But we gotta talk about the last play
Look, you can't miss that shot. You just can't. I know, I know. Not a lot of time left, can't really use the backboard, I don't give a shit. You HAVE to make that. It's a perfect play design. Perfect pass, with maybe a walk, but who cares. You still had the ball in your hands, 2 feet away, wide open. Can't miss it. Not with the NIT title on the line. It's one of the better passes you can make in this situation. Fran called it on the broadcast before the play and it was perfectly executed. You just have to make it.
Now we need the Final Four to deliver. You can't have the NIT upstage you with all four No. 1 seeds there. We need it.
