Ashton Jeanty's Message To NFL Teams Is Simple And Why He'll Be Awesome: 'It's TACKLE Football, Right? I'd Draft The Guy They Can't Tackle.'

Well, shit. Now I've completely turned my way of thinking when it comes to picking a running back early. I don't care if Jeanty wrote this or someone else did it for him, this is an AWESOME way to end the letter. I mean it's valid points. It is tackle football, why not take the guy they can't tackle?

I'm very much in the camp of don't you think about drafting a running back early unless you own someone else's pick and are competing for a Super Bowl. If that's the case and you need a running back to fill out the roster as the last piece, go ahead. That's where Ashton Jeanty makes sense. But if you're talking about building a team around him, you're going to end up like Saquon and the Giants. Good player, sure, but he's not winning you games and then he leaves.

The 'thank you for your time' at the end is a nice touch. Really brings me back to the days of having to write cover letters, resumes and then send thank you letters and/or e-mails after an interview. Nothing worse than going through an interview process, having to ask the same shit, get asked the same sort of questions. Good to see NFL running backs basically have to deal with the same thing as 20-something year old guys working in purchasing. He does compare himself to Saquon in this too:

Again, I agree, as long as he goes to a decent team. I don't care how good of a running back you are, you're not changing a team that sucks. Saquon couldn't. McCaffrey couldn't. I do think he'll be awesome though. I don't give a shit about 'oh he played at Boise State,' dude can play football.
