Winning NBA Playoff Games Are Easy When You Go On A 21-0 Run In The 4th Quarter
Well that was easy and not at all stressful!
It's funny how much air is wasted by people previewing playoff series wondering who the best player is between Jalen Brunson and Cade Cunningham, if the Pistons lack of postseason experience will kill them in a big spot, or if the Knicks will come up short in the big moments like they did in many parts of the regular season.
Nope, the secret to finding out who is going to win is figuring out out who will go on a 21-0 run in the 4th quarter that changes the entire complexion of the game and give the heavy favorite a 1-0 lead in the series. In fact, it is my professional opinion that all teams that want to win a playoff game go on as many 21-0 runs as they possibly can. Not just because it puts your team in a great position to win but because it is soooooo much goddamn fun to watch as a fan. I mean I was feeling downright sick down 8 in Game 1 against a young, hungry team with a struggling Brunson getting banged up and all the Pistons role players making the exact impact they had to.
However, this beautiful run is straight up art even if you simply view it in text form.
Add in Madison Square Garden being so loud that I could hear it North of The Wall at the Casa de Clem and you have no choice but to be excited playoff basketball is back in New York for another year. Doubly so because my 7-year-old son's favorite player is Cam Payne and he is 0% surprised that he went off today because he's believed Cam is a superstar simply because he dances a lot while wearing number 1.
Looking ahead to Game 2, I think the Knicks should go on another 21-0 run to open the game, mix another one in maybe before halftime, allow the Pistons to come back a little in the third since I don't want to hear people bitch about the NBA playoff ratings, then finish things off with another 21-0 run to end the game. Thibs may have other thoughts but if he wants a good chunk of the fanbase to stop demanding he gets fired after every loss, I think he should follow my strategy.
Now if you will excuse me, I have to see what type of mayhem the beautiful cretins of New York are causing in the street on a lovely Spring night outside The World's Most Famous Arena after a playoff win.
