Arsenal Get Humiliated In The Champions League Semi-Final Making It Five Years Without A Trophy
Another season, another year, and still no trophies for Arsenal. It’s been five long years since they last lifted anything worth mentioning—if you even count the FA Cup as a major trophy anymore. Over two decades have passed without a Premier League title, and let’s not even talk about Europe. Not a single Champions League trophy. Not even a Europa League win. Arsenal's entire existence has been a monument to falling short on the biggest stages.
Today’s loss to PSG was the perfect example of what this entire season has felt like. We dominated possession, created more chances, doubled their xG and still managed to lose. Arsenal came out of the gates flying, with three golden opportunities to equalize early on. But like always, they folded like a lawn chair. Completely shit the bed just like they have all year. And of course, right after weathering Arsenal’s early flurry, PSG took their first real chance and buried it right in our fucking face. One shot, one goal. While our guys are missing free headers and taking the piss five feet in front of the net.
It’s infuriating to watch. Week after week, the same story plays out. I’ve only been following this team for two years and I already hate them almost as much as I hate the Dolphins. And that’s saying something. Sure, the Dolphins will probably never even sniff an AFC Championship game, but the pain is familiar. Both teams crumble when it counts. And if the lights are bright and the stakes are high? Don’t bother showing up, they won’t.
I can’t even begin to imagine how Zah is feeling. This is a man who lives and dies by this club. And for what? It's been over twenty years since Arsenal gave him a shred of real joy. He still clings to memories of the Invincibles like a lifeline, trying to patch the holes left by the current team’s failures. And I get it. Because what Arsenal did today wasn’t pathetic because they lacked effort, they didn’t. It wasn’t because they failed to create chances, they did that too. No, tonight was pathetic because they proved every critic right. They confirmed every doubt anyone’s ever had. They’re still Arsenal.
Part of me wants them to slide down the Premier League table, just to avoid finishing second for a third straight year. Either win something or don’t bother. This whole runner-up nonsense is worse than mediocrity, it’s purgatory. There’s a running joke in the football world, “They call me Arsenal because I start on top and finish second.” And at this point, that joke isn’t even funny. It’s just true.
