Most Fun Weekend of 2025 Recap from the Low Country of Charleston South Carolina!
EVERY SINGLE TIME leaving Charleston, South Carolina I wonder why I do not go more.
Charleston truly is the jewel of the South. From the beach to the 1700s architecture to world class seafood to beautiful women, this city has it all!
When the weekend combo of my sister's best friend's wedding & Widespread Panic presented itself, there was only one place to be in America last weekend!
And let me tell you, this weekend did not disappoint! It damn near had it all!
Thanks to Big Cat for giving the go ahead on leaving Thursday night so I could see Panic on Friday!
I landed late Thursday night to pass out at my Ole Miss buddy's house in West Ashley. Kudos to Tyler for having sushi waiting…. what a guy.
Friday, I decided to test myself with a run on the Greenway Trail in 93 degree heat & sweltering humidity at 12:30pm. The logic was to find out how the Chicago Marathon training was going as the treadmill is getting a little monotonous.
I ended up running 4.5 miles and walking 1. The adjustment to the heat was not fun but I was extremely encouraged by the effort!
We then headed to 167 Raw Oyster Bar & half the menu might have gone in my stomach…..
Spectacular meal. (I also had ceviche, a grilled mahi taco & a lobster tostada). Highly recommend.
After the feast, we walked through the beautiful downtown area to take a ferry to Daniel's Island for the show that night.
Cannot beat being on the water…. immaculate vibes.
The pre-show party at New Realm Brewery absolutely raged. Stoolies and obv Panic fans were everywhere.
Friday night's show was fun & pretty good. Honestly it was not my favorite but anytime I get to see Panic it always feels like a holiday.
On the way to Charleston, I ate at Tall Boy Taco in Midway Airport. It is a popular Panic song & in one of those weird life coincidences guess what the Friday encore was?!?!? Signs from the universe are the best…..
We finished the night drinking N/A beers at Gene's the oldest bar in Charleston (founded in 1956).
Saturday morning, I met up with a Monroe high school buddy of mine to play my 1st tennis match since COVID in 2020. After shaking off some rust early, I actually played pretty good in 2nd set. (We lost 6-1 7-5). One of our opponents played in college so no shame in that.
After a late lunch at Royal American, it was wedding time! Thanks to State & Liberty for the new suit!
It was held at the I'on a beautiful venue in Mount Pleasant. My sister crushed her role as the official too! Charlotte always takes care of business!
After a seated dinner of fried chicken, short ribs & shrimp & grits, I made sure I talked to all the hometown folks there then took off to try to make the opening song of Panic night 2 at Credit One Stadium in the black tie suit.
I walked in during the opener. The venue was packed with 10,000 fellow Panic fans. It was honestly the biggest non-festival crowd at a Panic show in years which was super positive to see.
The suit basically put a target on me all night and was a huge hit too.
After not my favorite show Friday, Widespread burned that tennis stadium to the ground Saturday night. It was the best Panic show I have seen in 5-7 years and that is not a small amount of shows. Van Morrison, Tom Petty & Jimi Hendrix covers combined with a bunch of other bangers made for quite a great Saturday!
Sunday, I was BANGED UP. A 5 mile run, tennis match & 2 Panic shows will do that but it was a good pain. We went out to a low country shrimp boil on gorgeous Debordeu Island an hour away.
There was an empty couch in the den in front of the PGA Championship on TV that was calling my name. We feasted on shrimp & sausage while enjoying a leisurely Sunday golf nap…. can't beat it.
My 8:40 flight home got delayed til 10:30 and I made it back after midnight. But that small blemish was not about to put a dent on that weekend.
It was EASILY the most fun of 2025 so far and It's Gonna Be A Great Summer!
