Stefon Diggs Update: He's Tearing it Up at Patriots Practice, Cardi B Makes it Instagram Official, and All is Right With the World

Admittedly, this clip going viral (or the Patriots fandom equivalent of "viral") was hardly the best way to head into a summer weekend. Scott Zolak is as tapped into the organization as anyone in the media. For him to be suggesting Stefon Diggs' roster spot is not secure and it goes beyond just the infamous boat video:

... might not be the last thing we'd want to hear. (The words "Putin" and "nukes" come quickly to mind.) But there aren't too many things below it on the list. If the situation with Diggs and whatever was in that odd ziplock he was handing to these nautical ladies, not to mention the complete lack of Diggs at any of the Pats practices blew up, it could have been Antonio Brown all over again. And make you wonder if this franchise was doomed to never be able to sign a productive veteran wideout ever again. Like maybe Al Davis used his dark magic from beyond the grave to punish us for the Randy Moss trade or something.

Well I'm happy to put all such rumors and worries behind us. Not only did the situation not get worse and Diggs is not about to get released, but quite the opposite. He's at Gillette. He's attending practice. And he looks nothing short of spectacular:

What more could we ask for? He's moving in and out of his breaks to perfection. Showing a burst. Accelerating smoothly. Hitting top speed with the long strides that have been a signature of his game throughout his Pro Bowl career. And taking time to mentor the UDFAs.

You simply do not get to where Diggs is right now, about eight months after tearing his ACL, without putting in a ton of work. And you don't start sliding into a leadership role unless you've been around, building that chemistry with your teammates. If you try, it just comes off as phony and contrived.

In short, this is what Mike Vrabel was looking for when he signed off on a 3-year, $69 million deal for Diggs. Yes, it's only the beginning of June. But since three days ago the talk about him not even being on the roster by the start of this week was all the rage, let's just take the W here. And be grateful we have a true WR1 since Julian Edelman six bloody seasons ago. Let the Summer of Hope continue. Crisis averted.

And that goes for Diggs' personal life as well. Let us also not forget this happened last week:

But what a difference a few days make. That was Cardi B then, this is her now:

Ah, yes. All the world loves a lover. The Chapter 5/Chapter six (using the digit in one chapter and spelling out the other isn't exactly keeping to the AP Style Guide, but I'm not here to correct papers) reference has to do with the fact that her divorce from Offset is not yet final. But the papers have been filed and the lawyers are hashing it out. Now is the time for her and our new best receiver to share private, intimate moments on a boat that costs more than your house. Just the two of them and a photographer. And to express their affection for one another with a good Twerk.

Diggs looks great on the field. His life looks amazing off the field. What more could any of us ask than to see him on the business end of Drake Maye's passes and Cardi's heart. Again, crisis averted.
