Give Us Carnage: The Rough At Oakmont Has Phil Mickelson Duffing A Bunch Of Chips, Looking Like A 20 Handicap Out There

There's been a lot of talk about the rough at Oakmont and videos of guys dropping balls in it and how brutal it is. But, this? This might be the most damning video of any to show the carnage that awaits this week and I can't wait. This isn't me and you out here hacking it around, we're talking about one of the best chippers golf has seen. We're talking about a guy who lives for a flop shot and a guy who just did this:

He is not a 14 handicap. He is a Hall of Famer and is staring at those balls going a foot to his side like we do on a bad shot. It's like he's almost in shock. And, again, we're not talking in his prime Phil, but it doesn't matter. If he's out here looking like a 30 handicap I expect almost everyone in the field to have a shot or two like this, outside of Scottie most likely. It's more than just the rough though. You have greens that are lightning fast and don't make sense, like Michael Kim describes here:

Sure, some of the shots is him just figuring shit out and trying to find the right spot. But just look at guys trying to hack it out of there. This is what I want from a US Open. I want 2007 with Angel Cabrera winning here and shooting a +5.
