A "Beat-The-Streak" User Had A 50-Game Streak And Found Himself 7 Picks Away From Winning $5.6 Million Dollars Before Jacob Wilson Ended His Run In Devastating Fashion

What a week it's been for "Beat-The-Streak" user Iotank. This baseball fan went on a run for the ages and came pretty damn close to doing something we've never seen. In case you don't know, 'Beat-The-Streak' is a game run by MLB where you try to pick 57 straight MLB players to get a hit, one better than Joe DiMaggio's famous streak. So you pick 1 or 2 guys a day until you get to 57, what's the prize for getting to 57 straight? A cool $5.6 million. Every now and then you hear of a guy over 20, or 30, but it's been a little bit since we saw a 50 burger up there on the leaderboard until this week.

Iotank was at 50 on the nose heading into Monday night's games and he selected Athletics' stud Jacob Wilson. A great pick since Wilson is a hitting machine. We even got a tweet from @MLB about the 50-game streak and that is when the buzz started. But it may have been the ultimate announcers jinx because most of us woke up on Tuesday to see this play....

Of course that is how the dream ends, $5.6 million gone down the drain due to a fielders choice and a tough read by the runner on first. Some have complained that it should be a hit but they simply don't know the definition of a fielders choice, so that's on them. Since the runner was forced out at the base it's recorded as fielders choice for the batter who hit it. It sucks but it's the right call, no gray area or anything there, just a sucky way to lose a chance to get yourself closer to life changing money. If you're Iotank you'd rather Wilson went 0-4 with 4Ks than lose it like this. Off the bat I'm sure he thought he had a chance for it to fall....but when it did it was clear the dream was over due to the batter not getting a good read on it and getting caught out there in a bad spot. What a way for the dream to end. Nothing the runner could have done too, that's an impossible read to make and you have no clue that the right fielder would pull up and let the ball drop, it's a smart baseball play if we're being honest but it's a killer for Iotank.

Just getting to 50 is wild in itself, I've played this game because and it's insanely hard. Sounds easy on paper, just pick Aaron Judge, Wilson, Freddie Freeman, Manny Machado, Soto, people like that every night. NOPE! Not that easy, a run to 50 is incredible. I used to spam Joey Votto like it was my job, don't think I ever got past 10. Fresh start tonight for him though, get back on the horse and try to get back to 50 and make it interesting again. But let's be real, MLB knew what they were doing with that tweet, they knew they were going to jinx this guy and not pay him the money. Manfred threw out one last Hail Mary and it worked, his devil magic strikes again. What a way for a chance at $5.6 million to disappear right in front of your face.
