Jonathan Toews Is OFFICIALLY Back In The National Hockey League

I am surprised, but I am VERY happy for Jonathan Toews. Clearly he didn't get to end his career the way he wanted to when the Blackhawks shut the door on him, Kane, and everyone involved with the Dynasty run that started in earnest with his draft selection in 2006.

It did seem like he wasn't the same guy the past several years in Chicago. A year off, long covid or whatever the mystery illness was, and a horrible team with a bad coach and GM. Toews is going to his hometown in Winnipeg and an old hockey ops guy from the Hawks, Chevy, is giving him the chance to play on a good team to end his career.

I have no idea what to expect. It seems like the Jets aren't exactly sold either with all the games played bonuses in his contract. If Toews is healthy and dedicated I don't see a reason why he can't help the Jets. Big body, experience, defense, face-offs, and some offense that can help a power play unit. I can see him slotting into the bottom 6 and just playing his game. He won't have to deal with the media, or the pressure of wearing a C, or anything like that. He can play simply because he loves it and wants to compete. For the first time in probably his entire life, Toews can just be one of the guys on a good team instead of the driving force. I am excited to watch him and I hope it ends with him lifting a Cup in Winnipeg.
