Cooper Flagg's Hilarious Side Eye Says It All After A Reporter Mentioned That Luka Would Have Been The Face Of The Franchise But "Plans Changed"

After the last 4 months being nothing but mostly hell for Mavs fans, at least today was finally a day where the fanbase could feel some sort of joy. For the first time, Cooper Flagg arrived at the facility as a member of the Dallas Mavericks. Even though we've all known Cooper was headed to Dallas since the Lottery, there's just something about the day finally arriving where you see this generational prospect officially join your team that will always hit a little different
While I wished nothing but the worst for Mavs fans back in June of 2024, after seeing what they've gone through since February, even I can't help but feel happy for them today. The hell they've been through is the type of thing I would never wish on my biggest enemy. Just a complete "fuck you" in every sense and it happened pretty much every single day for about 3 straight months. Day after day was another kick right in the dick, that shit had to be exhausting. So I can only imagine how it felt to finally see Flagg hold his #32 Mavs jersey. Seeing as how he's the new savior of the franchise, this is a rather important day in Mavs history. Landing a generational Lottery pick and then that pick actually panning out is what changes franchises forever. Just ask the last two NBA Champions how that goes.
This introductory press conference was also a nice reminder of how we got here in the first place. You knew the Luka trade was going to find its way in there in some way, and once it did, not even Cooper Flagg himself could hold back

I'm pretty sure every single one of us had this reaction when we heard that question. We all know that trade was shady on some level, from the actual compensation for Luka, to the Mavs winning the Lottery, to the Lakers immediately being sold for $10B, I'm not trying to be a conspiracy guy, but at the same time
So it's hilarious to see that Cooper Flagg is one of us. Even he knew the fix was in and he could barely hold it in. The good news is he immediately responded with his answer
Great answer. That's a guy who sounds more than prepared for this moment and the entire post-Luka situation. Cliche responses, confidence, inspiring hope, talking about winning, that's as textbook as it gets. As a Mavs fan, this would have me over the moon. The hilarious reaction during the question and then the exact type of pandering answer you're hoping to feast on as a fan watching this presser. 10/10 no notes.
I'm sure at some point it will probably get annoying to keep having to answer these types of questions, but that's what comes with the territory when you're the consolation prize for the Luka Doncic trade. No big deal, just a tiny bit of pressure for you to deliver as being the savior. You can't just be good, you have to be generational or pretty damn close to it. A franchise building block at the very least. I'm rooting for him and believe he can live up to the hype as long as he stays healthy. He was giving Team USA hell in that scrimmage this past summer, and everything we've seen from him so far is that he puts in the work to be great.
But hey, if it doesn't work out in Dallas, that's OK with me too. We have a spot waiting for him on his hometown team once we get to around 2031-32
See you in 7 years Nico!
