YOU GOTTA TRY THIS- I believe I'm a Ryder now.

(That's me on the far left, wearing a hat… Rico in the middle.)

I used the words "I believe" in the title because it's not wise to assume one becomes a Ryder simply because one wants to be one.

Is there a lengthy interview process that involves a well-written essay and a background check?

Perhaps Rico outsources new membership duties to a couple of Sergeants-at-Arms/barbacks at D'Jais?

Either way, after sitting down with Rico on the latest episode of You Gotta Try This, I'll follow the proper channels to join the club…

As with other guests we've been lucky enough to have on the show, Rico came in to have a relaxed conversation about food.

So you won't see the intense guy you've seen on basketball courts lately.

And you won't witness any of his trademark outbursts because I created an atmosphere in that fucking filthy podcast room where Bosco did not have to be defensive while his co-hosts inevitably "poke the bear" just to watch its (Rico's) reaction.

Instead, we talk about…

- The Bosco family connection to ICONIC eateries of his and MY past.

- Where to eat in the boroughs.

- Where NOT to play golf in the boroughs and beyond.

- Who has the best roast beef in Brooklyn?

- Who has the best chocolate bread in Staten Island?

- Picky-eater kids.

- Picking winners based on local delicacies.

And then our conversations about one of my old haunts, the New York Stock Exchange, led to Rico's promise (which I will fucking hold him to) to have his dad come on the show at some point in the future.

I won't explain why that means so much to me without consulting the Bosco family first, but I will tease it by saying that Rico's dad is two things:

1) A fucking CHARACTER to talk to.

2) A fucking LEGEND on the NYSE floor.

There is only one other Barstool dad I would like to have on the show, and that is Mr Borelli (for obvious reasons). Maybe I'll do a pair of Father's Day episodes, and then drop them nowhere near the actual Father's Day holiday… I haven't figured that part out yet.

So if you're a fan of Rico, I recommend tuning into this episode.

If you hate Bosco, I urge you to still watch and see him in a different (and, honestly, captivating) light.

And if you're a Ryder, please speak to the membership committee and see if you can fast-track my application… I already ordered a uniform…

Thanks for the time, Rico… Let's run it back soon.

Take a report.
