'If That Happened In Their Box, For Sure A Penalty' - Mauricio Pochettino Finally Earned His US Soccer Pinstripes After Berating The Refs For Screwing Us On An Obvious Handball

I'm merely a fan who is far too invested in US men's soccer. I won't apologize about it. I say that because people are losing their minds that I dared to say it was a screwjob. Well, guess who else did?

Good. This is what I want to see out of Pochettino. Well, this and wins. Wins help more than anything else. But I want a guy in charge who will call out the screwjob, who will call out the refs and say this wouldn't have gone down like this in the US end. We need someone who isn't afraid to piss people off and not hold back berating refs. Welcome to CONCACAF life, Poch. It sucks because this is far too common of what we see from refs and not to mention there's no positive for us playing in this federation. If we don't win it's the end of the world, if we do win it's what we're supposed to do.

I love this though. I know people who don't care about soccer will blast the Gold Cup and what happened, but the US has some legit takeaways from this. Chris Richards is a staple and starter for the World Cup. Malik Tillman entered the conversation as a starter, Diego Luna made a strong case for the roster. I actually thought Sebastian Berhalter was pretty damn good, especially on set pieces, which is weird to say as Gregg's son. We still have no idea who our No. 1 goalie is and what the starting XI is going to look like, but we have some guys.

Go at them, Pochettino. Tell them how it's bullshit and never hold back. 339 days to the World Cup.
