After Myles Turner Joins The Bucks, Mathurin Delivers A Statement Dunk On Ex-Teammate
Inject this directly into my veins! Just when you thought the Pacers / Bucks rivalry couldn't get any more juice, a statement dunk turns into an even bigger statement post. Bennedict Mathurin is the first Indiana Pacer to respond to Myles Turner switching up on Indy in free agency by joining the rival Bucks. Even off the court Mathurin is a total DAWG.
The Myles Turner saga got a million times for interesting when Pacers president of basketball operations said,
1. The Pacers were more than ready to match an offer and pay the luxury tax (a lot of fans need to apologize for assuming the Pacers FO was being cheap)
2. The Pacers front office found out Myles signed with the Bucks VIA A SHAMS TWEET
Now we've got Benny breaking the silence on the Pacers front with a disrespectful poster dunk right in Myles grill to show there is no love lost, it's on sight when these two teams meet up next season. Based this series of events, you've got to wonder what the relationship is between Myles and Indiana. Getting paid is understandable, joining the enemy Bucks is another, but not even giving the Pacers the courtesy of letting them know you're leaving is crazy. I guess that's what 10 seasons of being on the chopping block will do to a man, you want to get the last laugh.
But this saga is far from over, a new chapter has begun. People were speculating that Indiana players were torn up about Myles leaving in FA, but that's not what this Pacers team does. You're either with us, or you're against us. Mathurin is ready to stand on business. A post like this is exactly why you save your future cap space for a guy like Mathurin over Turner. A young 23 year old with unlimited potential and a Kobe like killer instinct, over an aging big man with his best years behind him - it's a no brainer.
You can be grateful for the 10 seasons Myles had as a Pacer, and the past two playoff runs, but based off of everything that went down, Myles kind of gave the middle finger to Indiana. I'm all for Myles getting paid, but with everything there is a price. That price means he is now the enemy when the ball tips off next year.
