Shoot Your Shot: George Bloor (Ever Heard Of Him) Qualified For The Open, Now Wants To Prep By Playing Scottie In A Cash Game Next Week
I can't tell you how much I respect this move. George Bloor plays on the HotelPlanner Tour and Scottie, well, Scottie doesn't play on that tour. So what do you do when you qualify for The Open? You challenge Scotite. It's the only move you can make, but you don't just challenge him to a practice round to ease your nerves, you add something to it:
Guy is 825th in the world and doesn't have a win yet, this is what he should be doing. If you make The Open (or the US Open), anything with qualifying like this, you need to take advantage of it. There's no lock that George Bloor is going to play in the Open next year, so make sure you get that round with Scottie. I'd be taking all the free stuff you can get, loading up in the shop, whatever to remember that one trip.
Obviously cash games aren't new in the golf world, especially during the practice rounds. But I wish it was a little more talked about. I want to see Scottie vs George Bloor in a true cash game before The Open. Yeah, it's a chance to work around Portrush and get some unique shots in, whatever, give me a camera with the cash game angle. I want to hear the discussions, how many strokes is Bloor getting?
Let this be a good lesson for any person who comes out of nowhere to qualify for an Open. Do whatever it takes to get your name out there because Bloor is right. Playing with Scottie on Wednesday will make Thursday much easier. You'll have triple the crowd on Wednesday.
