New Jersey, stand up! What a moment as American and New Jersey native (she lives in Florida but was born in Freehold so I'm counting it for Jersey) Amanda Anisimova knocks off world number one Aryna Sabalenka to reach the Wimbledon Final. She's the first American to do this since Serena Williams in 2019. It's a career achievement for Anisimova and boy was it deserved against Sabalenka today.

Wimbledon just doesn't tweet out highlights for whatever reason, but I'll tell ya Amanda had to work for this. She was nails at the net when she had to be, even if she was uncomfortable doing so. She ripped 30 winners and was fearless. You're gonna need to be that way against Sabalenka with the game she brings. Sabalenka actually broke Anisimova as she served for the match, but Amanda bounced right back and re-broke to seal it.

Anisimova has had quite a journey to get to this point despite being just 23 years old. Debuting at 14 years old she quickly asserted herself on tour making a final in her first ever main draw. She'd quickly crack the top 100 and become an issue in grand slams. In 2019 though, her father, who served as her coach during the junior circuit, suddenly passed away. In May of 2023 she stepped away from the game to mentally reset. A year later she returned and began her resurgence, soaring up the rankings and winning her first Masters 1000 title.

Now she's into her first grand slam final after beating the best in the world. Amanda Anisimova has officially arrived. She'll get the winner of Iga Swiatek and Belinda Bencic which is happening right now. Any of those three have a very good chance of hoisting the trophy on Saturday. Go Amanda!!!

P.S. While she was on her mental break in 2023 some loser decided to troll her about her body and laugh at her "gigantic boobs." Will always be one of the weirdest chirps ever. Imagine being this person.

In this house we cheer for Amanda
