Kings Stay King: Jimmy Rollins Hit A Hole-In-One At The American Century To Win A Boat

Some guys are just born to be great. It doesn't matter what they're doing, they are always going to find a way to be great. J-Roll is one of those guys.

Whether it's being a World Series Champion, former MVP, and one of the greatest shortstops of all time while playing for the Philadelphia Phillies. Or trading the bat in his hands for a pitching wedge, and acing the 139-yard par 3 #12 on the Edgewood Tahoe Resort at the American Century Championship.

Philly fans got a chance to see how smooth his swing was for 15 years while he was playing here. Sometimes the baseball swing doesn't always translate to the smoothest golf stroke, though. They can pound the shit out of the ball, but sometimes they lack the hands to have a buttery soft game. Not J-Roll. The tempo on that swing is pure Fred Couples. Picks out his target, gives it a couple waggles, swing as smooth as could be, head down, draino.

Everyone thinks about how sick it would be to hit a hole-in-one every time they step up to the tee box on a par 3. Everyone especially thinks about how sick it would be to can one when you're playing in a golf outing that has a prize like a car waiting for you on one of the par 3's. Then you pull the shit out of it, end up in a bunker, need 2 to get out of there, end up 20 feet away from the pin, leave your first putt 10 feet short, blow your 2nd putt past the hole, and your buddies finally let you take a mercy 6.

But Jimmy Rollins steps up to the tee box and knows that he's a bad, bad man. He sees a boat, he wants the boat, he knows the only thing standing between him and having that boat is putting a little white ball into a hole that is 139 yards away. And he absolutely drills it. Some guys are just born to be great.
