The Real Story Of The HR Derby Last Night Was Kid Robbing A Home Run And You're Nuts If You Don't Think It Should Be Encouraged

RDT blogged the HR Derby and Cal Raleigh winning the whole thing after advancing by inches in the first round over Brent Rooker, check it out ...

But the story of the night was the HR robbery. A huge moment in what I still consider a dud of an event every year. Listen a bunch of the best hitters in the bigs hitting bombs is a fun watch, especially when you are young, and yes every few years there's a holy shit performance like Josh Hamilton etc. But much like watching fireworks, after a while aren't they all kind of the same? And further more if you asked everyone in a truth circle if they are kind of bored of it, they would say yes. I'm one of those people. I watch but I have grown out of loving it.

However, that moment last night got me thinking we should 100% embrace this act. Listen, again hitting Home Runs over and over again ... we've been there done that for CENTURIES. Mix it up for Pete's sake. Let the kids rob the Homers, hell put 7 footers by the wall, or the stupid ass Savannah Bananas on trampolines. I understand this is stupid, but so is hitting homers over and over again. Even if it's for 30 seconds. Just add some sort of flare to this thing, or make it an obstacle to overcome for the hitters because in a game people can rob homers, why not the Derby?
