This WNBA Ref Was Lucky To Walk Away With His Life After Pissing Off Caitlin Clark

Getty Images.You look at almost any professional sports league on the planet, and one of the biggest complaints is that superstar players are always getting preferential treatment from the officials. As annoying as it might be to fans who don't have a superstar athlete on their team, it's hard to blame the officials. Superstars move the needle. They are the ones who are driving viewership up. People are tuning in to watch superstar players put up superstar numbers. A rising tide lifts all boats. The more people watch, the more everybody gets paid. Including the refs.
And then you have the WNBA. Where it almost looks like the refs are actively trying to sabotage Caitlin Clark's career. And when they're not letting the player with the most star power in the league practically get mugged every time she has the ball, they are clearly saying some ridiculously out-of-line shit to her to draw this sort of reaction.
Everything seems to be going like a normal, civilized conversation between athlete and ref, and then out of nowhere it looks like Caitlin Clark wants to rip this dude's head clean off of his shoulders.
If there's one thing that is universal amongst refs in all sports, it's that they have some of the thinnest skin possible. The moment that anybody questions anything they say during a game, they immediately look for retribution. So the fact that Caitlin Clark was able to chew out this ref without walking away with a technical shows that he clearly said something outrageous that he shouldn't have said.
Just bent that poor man over her knee and gave him a good ol' fashion spanking. He tried to bark back a bit, but ultimately he ends up walking away with his tail tucked between his legs. He's lucky he even had a tail left on him at all.
Ideally, nobody should ever know anything about a ref in the WNBA. Their goal should be to remain as irrelevant to the story as possible. The only thing working in this ref's favor right now is that Caitlin Clark left the game after re-aggrevating her groin, so that's the main story the league will be dealing with out of this one. Just keep this whistle in your mouth at all times and it'll help you avoid any future verbal beatdowns from CC.
