A Parenting Hack So Good, I Want To Have More Kids

I barely remembered this little gem until this afternoon, when I overheard someone complaining about their kid never going to bed at a decent hour.
There is no way I can credit the original creator because I can't recall what platform I saw her on, but I will be on the lookout for one of her videos to pop up again on my timeline so I can tag her directly. Until then, you'll have to settle with me telling you that a very attractive brunette in her late 20s/early 30s gave me a parenting hack last night that is equal parts genius (because I never thought of it) and also equal parts useless (because my wife and I no longer have young kids).
But for those of you who are unfortunate enough to be saddled with young liabilities, perhaps you can try this at home.
She said that when her kids demand to watch one of their favorite movies or TV shows when it is past their bedtime, she puts one on that is dubbed in Spanish.
When the confused monolingual kids inevitably complain, she explains that they do not understand Lilo or Elsa because they are overtired to the point where they are unable to grasp the English language.
If it works, and the kids do go to sleep, she puts the exact same show on once they wake up (except this time in English), and the ruse is complete.
This will not resonate with people reading this who have never had kids, but for the rest of us breeders, I hope it resonates as pure genius.
Now, you may ask:
Large, what happens if the kid doesn't care that it is another language, and stays up WAY past his bedtime watching "La Bella y la Bestia", "Buscando a Nemo", and/or "El Rey León" until the wee hours of the morning?
Well… Then your kid is inadvertently learning another language, which will likely come in handy once this country opens its borders again.
Or, to be difficult, you may also ask:
What if I don't want to use language tricks on my kid, and he still refuses to go to bed?
Well… Then maybe you should take a page from Adrian Peterson's parenting handbook and take that little angel on a hunting expedition for that perfectly-sized "switch."
Either way, a good night's sleep is only a few easy steps away.
Pleasant dreams, mis amiguitos.
Take a report.
