Maybe We Can Cut Little League Coaches A Little Slack When They're Losing Their Shit On Players

Everybody is going to see the video of this little league softball coach from Delaware putting her finger in the face of her player trying to get her to shut up. And for the most part, the reaction is going to be immediate outrage. People calling for her to get fired and never coach a game again. People crying and trying to figure out how she ever got a job coaching little league in the first place. Plenty of keyboard warriors saying if that was their kid, they would go up there and beat the brakes off the coach themselves.

Now I don't want what I'm about to say get twisted into condoning child abuse. But it's just that....well this isn't child abuse.

What we have here is a coach who dedicates a ton of her precious time to coaching this team. Gives up her whole damn summer to coach these kids. Clearly she's a pretty solid coach considering how far this team has gone. She obviously spends enough time with them where she can consider them her own. Chances are she spends more time with these kids than some of their actual parents do. And the thing about kids this age is that they are brutal to deal with at times. They just frustrate the everliving piss out of you. Especially considering that some kids are just bad kids.

If a coach hits a player, then at that point we've got a case on our hands that maybe a coach should get fired and their ass kicked. But just shushing a player because they won't listen to you and keep trying to yell at someone or something? Well that's just a coach stepping in to do the parents' job. No harm no foul.

The day that coaches can yell at players again without parents crying foul and trying to get them fired is the day that we finally get America back on track.
