Watch These Farmers Successfully Remove 500 Squatters From Their Property By Spraying Them With Manure
Tenant laws have always baffled me. In so many ways, and in every apartment I've ever rented, it seems like everything is tilted in the landlord's favor. They can raise the rent, they never fix anything, they can charge a multi-thousand dollar broker fee even when there's no broker involved in the transaction whatsoever. Then at the end of the lease, they can invent any reason they want to keep your security deposit. There's a reason so many people despise landlords.
Yet there's a couple laws (at least here in America) that are so hilariously on the side of the "tenant", that it doesn't make any sense. One being rent-controlled apartments. I like rent controlled apartments. I love the idea of stumbling into one myself someday. But you hear these stories of people living in three-bedroom Manhattan apartments for $500/month, in a location where people would be willing to pay 10x that money. It's awesome for the tenants. For anybody who's lucky enough to live in a rent-controlled apartment right now, I wish you the best of luck in holding onto it until the day you die. It just blows my mind that cities are still letting people get away with it.
But it's the squatter's rights that are really fucked up. I expressly DO NOT wish squatters the best of luck. I mean, maybe in some rare situations I could be convinced that a squatter is pulling one over on a real P.O.S. landlord who actually deserves it. But the stories you hear of people returning from long vacations to find their home has just been fully broken into, and is now being occupied by a random homeless man. And the when they go to the police, the police say, "Ahhh sorry he's been there 30-days. It's his home now. Nothing we can do. And because you raised your voice about it we're taking you to prison."
How the fuck is that still a thing? It's such a blatant exploitation of a law that was never intended to be used that way. It's so wildly unfair to the landlord, or to whoever is rightfully paying to live in that house. I can't fathom how squatting has been a problem for so long, a problem that pretty much everybody agrees is a problem, but there are still laws in place that allow squatting to go on. It's preposterous.
So even if this video is in France, where squatters also have rights, it's good to see a small-town's worth of them finally get what they deserve. To be sprayed with shit.
The Sun – Astonishing footage showed the furious farmers using tractors to spray the slurry across their agricultural field where the caravans were parked.
The squatters, who parked their campers illegally, were seen battling to stop the onslaught of stinking faeces as the tractors chased them down.
The hardworking farmers said they were driven to the boiling point after cops refused to step in and remove the "illegal gypsy camp" residing on their land.
With harvest due in just a few weeks - and the invaders refusing to leave - they finally decided to take matters into their own hands.
And by spraying the squatters with shit, they finally made enough of a stink that a French judge actually ordered the squatters to leave. Which if you're familiar with squatter videos, is the upset of the century. That's never how these stories end. A majority of the time, when a property owner posts a video of them confronting a squatter, it's the property owner who leaves the property in handcuffs. But not this time.
The farmers told The Sun that a judge today ordered up to 500 members of a "travelling community of gypsies" to evict the encampment.
François, 64, said: "It is a major victory for us. A civil court decision went in our favour.
"The travellers were told to move out within 24 hours, or else face police intervention and fines.
"Around 500 of them, travelling in about 200 caravans, all left."
Loic Madre, the man who shot the video, claimed the travellers moved onto the field - meant for animals to graze on - without permission.
To the farmers' delight, France’s Interior Ministry said tighter controls on travelling communities would be introduced in the Autumn.
An Interior Ministry spokesman said: "These measures aim, in particular, to increase prison sentences for illegal settlement involving acts of destruction, degradation, or deterioration, and harm to the natural environment."
"Some 20 measures will be outlined in a legislative package that will be put to parliament in September."
Even just watching the squatters run after the shit spraying tractors and banging on their windows is infuriating. They're besides themselves that this is happening to them. It's crazy. What leg do they think they have to stand on? The farmers need to harvest their land. Farming is their livelihood. They've asked you to leave, and you refused. Of course they're spraying you with shit. I can't imagine being that entitled in a situation where I'm so clearly in the wrong. I just wish they would have sprayed the shit closer to their campers.
Mark Titus has been saying this on Mostly Sports for a while now, and he's absolutely right. We gotta watch out for the French. Not the squatters. The productive members of society. They're becoming a problem. Every year, France pumps out more and more freak athletes. If Joel Embiid wasn't a front-running pussy, we might have been in trouble at the Olympics. They just put a 6-foot-6 woman in the WNBA who dunks WAY easier than I've ever seen an American woman dunk.
Now the French government is being proactive about squatters. France is quietly getting their shit together. They're catching up. Soon enough, Alabama is going to be paying $20M a year to a 5-star French quarterback. He'll go on to be the first player in history to win 3 Heisman trophies. He'll win 8 Super Bowls throwing his 6-foot-9 French wide receiver. "The French Connection", they'll call it. France needs to be stopped. Candace Owens can't do it all herself.
