This Kentucky Little League Manager Is An Absolute Character But He May Be Crazy Like A Fox
You never know what you’re going to get in Little League and it’s why the regionals and then the LLWS are very entertaining to me. Every lead is within striking distance no matter what, an error whether physical or mental are in play, and every emotion can change at the snap of a finger. A kid could be Nolan Ryan for 5 and 2/3 and then walk a guy and absolutely lose it. It’s pure chaos. You also never know what you are going to get with these mic’ed up managers. Prime example is the guy from Kentucky put on quite a show.
First he starts with his pregame routine having the kids play football. Which is an interesting tactic to say the least. I like keeping guys loose but you are playing a pretty big game. Maybe do that at the walk through in the hotel parking lot before heading to the game but that’s just me. Better to play loose than be nervous as hell and tight. One way or another this didn’t really affect the game during the game so you gotta kind of laugh it off.
Then during a mound visit in a crucial spot… decided that was the time to break out a very corny joke.
Now despite what some non ball knowers (Liam Blutman) are spreading on the internet …
It actually worked .
I’m normally hard on the mangers in these things and it’s hard to back the guy in a game he loses, but I gotta say - he’s consistent. His approach is be loose, don’t panic and it translates to the team. They calmed down, got out with minimal damage and lived to tell about it. Goes to show there’s different ways to coach a team and every style can be different and every style can work. I’m sure this won’t be the only coach we see with an interesting approach the rest of the way here.
