Max Kepler Knows The Quickest Way Back Into Phillies Fans Hearts Is By Hitting Dingers, And Hating The Mets
It's been a tough go for Max Kepler this season in Philadelphia. To be fair, he hasn't really produced. But a lot of the...resentment he's been dealing with from Philly fans goes completely beyond his own control. Phillies fans have wanted to add another bat to the outfield ever since the NLCS loss to the Diamondbacks. He's been catching a shit ton of deflected anger that should actually be directed towards Dave Dombrowski.
But Jimmy Rollins said it best. Philly can be a tough place to play...if you're soft.
Credit to Max Kepler. Because regardless what you think about him as a ball player, you can't say the man is soft. He put his head down, dealt with the struggles, and learned to appreciate the boo's as the official love language of Philly fans everywhere.
So let's just look at Max Kepler's night so far. The Phillies won, he hit a home run, and embraced the Philly crowd even if they get on his case. The only thing left for him to hit the cycle here would be to shit on the Mets….
By god, the sick bastard has actually done it! Every last thing that you could do to get Philly fans back on your side, Max Kepler accomplished over the span of 3 hours. If you want Philly fans to cut you a little slack and acknowledge the fact that you're just a human who is trying his best, Max Kepler just put together the blueprint.
He's not perfect. He's probably not even very good. But he's earned himself at least 72 hours of warm favor from Philly fans. Which is honestly more than you could ask for on most days.
