Pete Alonso Is The Mets Home Run King

I wrote about Pete Alonso in the offseason and how it just felt right for him to stick around and give this Mets team another shot at a deep playoff run and even the possibility of a World Series.

In typical Mets fashion they have been a disaster since the All Star break and need a MIRACLE (shoutout Cascada) of MIRACLES to win the division and avoid the Dodgers (and Brewers for that matter) as best they can in the Wild Card round. The season had far higher expectations than what’s been going on the last month. But either way, the team is still in the fight and it was great that Pete is a part of it. A true Met.

It’s awesome to see his career thus far as he really has been a bomber’s bomber in terms of a Power hitter that we grew up on in the 90’s when it felt like everyone was launching fingers. We of course know why that was, but that’s besides the point. It’s always fun to have a guy on your team that can change the game with one swing and Pete for sure was that. From the 53 homer year of 2019 to last year’s dinger off the Brewers when the season was hanging in the balance.

Pete’s been our guy and through ups and downs he’s been a ton of fun to watch and I love that he’s cemented in Mets history.
