NEW CHAMP: Khamzat Chimaev Is Who We Thought He Was

Welp - Khamzat Chimaev is who we thought he was: the boogeyman. It wasn’t pretty, and it sure wasn’t entertaining, but my god was it dominant. Dricus Du Plessis wasn’t in that fight any more than I was tonight. There pretty much wasn’t a single second where it looked like he’d have a shot at retaining the UFC Middleweight Championship, let alone being competitive at all. It was just takedown, control, repeat. Unfortunately it was so one-sided it took the air out of the arena after an all time big fight feel during introductions.

That’s just Khamzat tho - like Thanos, he’s inevitable. You don’t have to like it, but now you have to deal with it, because that’s the new champ. Prophecy complete. Hopefully he dishes out some more damage than that in his upcoming title reign. In fairness, he usually does - that was an unusual amount of nothing from Chimaev, as weird as that sounds after a flawless performance. We’re just used to a little more excitement from his crazy ass. Oh well, though. I guess it speaks to DDP’s defense more than anything. 

At least we got those spinning back elbows!
