'The Target's Not on Our Back, We Have a Red Dot on Everyone Else': Arch Manning Delivered the Quote of the Season at the Start of Week 1 and He Might Really Be the Chosen One

Like most college football observers out there, while I'm pretty sure Arch Manning is going to be great, I just don't know for sure until I see him go out there and do it as the starter for a full season on a team with national championship expectations. Or at least I didn't know until I heard him give one of the most badass quotes I've ever heard. Now I am certain this kid is going to be the next in a lineage of superstar quarterbacks.

Arch could have said something like, "The target is always on your back at Texas. We're the standard," or some lame bullshit like that. Instead, he took this media opportunity to look into a camera and tell Ohio State and everyone else on the Longhorns' 2025 schedule that he and his teammates have firearms trained on them just waiting to fire. I have never seen a college quarterback more definitively have the "it" factor without a meaningful start under his belt.

All I've seen from Ohio State thus far is the school barring Dave Portnoy from entering The Horseshoe for fear he might say something that will hurt their feelings. With all the available evidence both on and off the field, I know who I'm picking on Saturday.

And every professional football team that does not truly believe it can win the Super Bowl this year should be making plans to creatively ensure it is giving itself the best chance possible to land the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, because Arch is coming and he's bringing his guns with him.
