Of Course: MLB Dropped Its 2026 Schedule Unannounced on a Tuesday Afternoon, Minutes After Taylor Swift Announced Her Engagement
Did you think Taylor Swift dropping her engagement announcement out of the clouds was going to be the biggest news on this lovely Tuesday afternoon? Well think again, folks, because Major League Baseball took this opportunity to show that it's still the biggest show in town and released the 2026 schedule.
It's honestly incredible that MLB continues to do stuff like this. They actually have to be doing it on purpose. I'm one of the probably dozens of people in America who has actually been waiting for this with great anticipation 1) because the Braves are horrific and I want to look forward to a new season but 2) because I want to plan my bachelor party around a Braves road series next year.
Not only was there no sort of announcement on when the schedule would come out, but I even asked people who work for the Braves over the last several weeks and nobody knew. The last couple years, it has come out during the All-Star Break, which seems like a great time to do it. You could even do a 30-minute show on MLB Network live from wherever the All-Star Game is highlighting all the best matchups for the following season. But no, we needed it to come out at 1 p.m. on a Tuesday in late August minutes after one of the biggest pop culture events of the last decade.
Even if you were dead set on the schedule coming out today, that needs to be canceled immediately once you see the Taylor Swift news. It's not like anybody knew when you were releasing it, anyway. Just do it tomorrow.
Never change, MLB.
