Both The SiriusXM President And CEO Finally Broke Their Silence On The Howard Stern Situation

Source - SiriusXM’s president and CEO are both on board with Howard Stern staying on the air amid rumors of a looming retirement — if the deal is right.
Scott Greenstein gushed at a Bank of America conference Wednesday that the radio legend has been “a lightning rod” for spreading awareness about SiriusXM and boosting publicity, per the Hollywood Reporter.
“He’s the best interviewer out there, period, bar none,” the president added, further praising Stern, 71.
Greenstein — who is also the broadcasting company’s chief content officer — explained negotiations talks are nothing new, especially with someone at Stern’s level.
“We’ve been pretty lucky all these years,” he admitted. “We’d love them to stay. It certainly has to make sense, but we feel pretty good that we’ve done this before, and we’ll see where it goes.”
SiriusXM CEO Jennifer Witz also recognized during the conference that Stern has been “core” to their platform for “over 20 years,” adding, “so I’m confident we’ll get to the right place.”
Page Six has reached out to reps for the “Howard Stern Show” for comment but has not heard back.
First of all, Scott Greenstein has to be 5'2", right? I know Howard is tall, but barely coming up to his shoulder is a tough look. He looks like Frank Shirley from Christmas Vacation. That said, I don't think anyone gives a shit about this anymore. It is clearly a publicity stunt and not even a good one. Oh you want him back and are going to negotiate? How scandalous! Whoever is running the show's social should be fired. I've seen more buzz generated from a Mike Katic fart. The bottom line is it's going to take more than looming contract negotiations to make Howard Stern relevant again. He'll have to get popular the old fashioned way - by doing interviews that people actually care about. Not being a 71-year-old left wing mouth piece. And to be honest, I don't think he can do it. No one is going to Stern to break news. They're going on Call Her Daddy or Out & About or their own social channels.
From Page Six…
Since August there have been rumblings that the show may end since Stern’s contract is up in the fall.
“Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. It’s no longer worth the investment,” an insider told the US Sun at the time.
“But as far as him coming back to doing the show, there’s no way they can keep paying his salary. After you saw what happened with Stephen Colbert, it’s like they just can’t afford to keep him going.”
In October 2004, Stern signed his first five-year deal with Sirius Satellite Radio for $500 million and it went into effect two years later. He later signed another five-year contract for the same amount in 2020.
Makes sense. Also, if I'm Howard Stern…I'm retiring. You've done it, bro. You're a billionaire radio host with a legendary career. Don't let the last five years tank the previous forty. I'll never understand why these super successful people continue to work when they don't have to. (Dave please don't get any ideas.) Like what do you have to prove? Is it an ego thing? Go spend time with your kids. Spend your time spending money. Not getting jealous of Alex Cooper and concocting fake rumors to stay relevant. The people who used to listen to you in the car are retired too. That's part of the reason why your numbers are one one-millionth of what they were.
I feel bad for the President and CEO because they have to pretend that they still want him there. The most high maintenance guy of all time. It's one of those things where they need to ride it out until the end out of respect for who he is/once was. I guess we'll find out what happens in a week when he makes his "announcement." Until then, I guess I'll be on standby.
