CURSE BROKEN!? Justin Herbert Just Dismantled The Chiefs In Brazil
25/34. 350 total yards. 3 touchdowns. THATS MY QUARTERBACK, BABY!
I'll fully admit that I was a total doomer going into this game. Rashawn Slater out for the year, Becton down with bubble guts and, most importantly, it's the Chiefs! They simply have our number every single year and it always goes the same way. Herbert plays valiantly, the Chargers hold the lead and then leave too much time for Mahomes in the fourth quarter. Goes the same way every time.
This time, the curse was broken. Herbert played at his usual standard of excellence but, this time, the team mostly played up to his level. The defense did solid (except for refusing to spy Mahomes) and made big stops when it counted. And Herbie made them pay in the clutch. Suck my whole cock and balls, Ryan Clark.
A big difference is that luck broke well for the Bolts. The chiefs where uncharacteristically sloppy, and the Chargers got away with procedural mistakes made by Harbaugh, who still doesn't seem to have a grasp of time management.
What does this mean for the rest of the year? It's hard to say. One thing that seemed to be a huge improvement was Harbaugh and Greg Roman's updated approach. Instead of sticking to run first, they just let Herbert ball out. If that is the approach the rest of the way, I feel a lot better about them than I did yesterday.
P.S. I love Rich Eisen. Great studio host. Don't let him do play-by-play ever again.
