Jets Manage To Lose In Heartbreaking Yet Encouraging Fashion

Jets lose. Same as it ever was.
I promised myself going into the season that I wouldn't have expectations for this season. As long as they were entertaining, I was going to enjoy the season. This was all a feast of lies I was feeding myself. I realized this immediately after the Jets scored the first field goal of the game.
Instead, I am typing this blog with the same blank, empty look on my scrawny face as I try to make sense of yet another loss in a stretch of a decade and a half of unending failure.
This was an encouraging loss at least. I know that it is loser talk. If you are a fan base of an actual NFL team, you are scoffing as you read this. I understand. But just know that's like making fun of a homeless guy who finds a warm corner to sleep in that night. It's not much for most people but at least it's something.

Breece Hall looked better than he has in a couple years. He had some real bursts and averaged 5.6 yards a carry en route to 107 rushing yards. Even with the loss of Alijah Vera-Tucker, the offensive line did a mostly decent job. Garett Wilson played well too (of course he did).
But the best news of all is the Jets may actually have a quarterback. Justin Fields was pretty fucking awesome. We all knew he could run and he did that by scoring a couple touchdowns all by himself. But he can also do this???
It wasn't all good news obviously. Aaron Rodgers treated the Jets defense even worse than he did Shailene Woodley. By the way, if you're a Jets fan and reading this blog, you deserve something extra. Hope this helps.
How could you be so mean to her Aaron? You monster!
It's not going to get any easier the next couple of weeks. Jets have the Bills next week and then it's onto Tampa the week after that. Maybe the smartest play is to go back to not expecting anything. But, I don't know if that's possible. If you're going to watch your favorite team, you're going to care. Telling yourself otherwise is bullshit. When it comes to sports, emotion beats logic.
At least the Patriots lost.
