Adam Silver Calling The NBA A 'Highlight League', Telling Fans To Who Can't Afford Streaming Services To Watch On Social Media Is So Goddamn Stupid

Now here's his quote in full:

Sure, getting more games for free is a step, but he still said it's a highlight league and to go watch it on TikTok. The NBA needs to get away from the whole 'we're only a highlight league' stuff. It's ruined how people consume the sport in the sense of no one watching the game. I don't know if it's social media, Red Zone, or what, but people now stopped watching full games. I hate it. I hate those people is what I'm trying to say. Everything has its place, no doubt about that, but we used to sit down together and watch a full game. Games that weren't on NBC back in the 90s, you did catch it on SportsCenter but they actually talked about the games back then too. That was the important thing, you had people like Stu Scott, SVP, Rich Eisen, etc tell you about the game and not just screaming into the void.

Don't get me wrong, there is an avenue for clips and to use social media. But why is just watching a full game no longer a thing? Everyone knows that people scream about the NBA regular season not mattering, people don't care, they live on 30 second clips. But you don't get to see what actually happened. That clip you saw? Yeah, the Hornets were down 42 in it but that one dunk was sweet so that's what they put out there.

I don't know how we get the younger generation to listen to us. We need to come together and force this to happen. We need to bring back being able to sit down for 2-3 hours and focus on one thing with the ability to use social media and highlights for other stuff.
