HIM Isn't Worth Your Time

HIM opens in theaters nationwide on Friday and with a little time before the Thursday Night Football stream, I caught a 2:50pm showing. The movie stars Marlon Wayans and Tariq Withers (pictured above on billboard) and is about Withers' character being the next great QB. Wayans is the established GOAT and going into year 20 as an NFL QB that has won eight rings.
Withers' character grew up idolizing him and now that he's grown up, gets to train with him after having a medical issue at The Combine that prohibited him from participating. All that stuff and the glitz and the glamour around a potential top pick with family relationships, friends, agents, and hanger-ons was cool to see.
But the second half of the movie was filled with non-sensical killings and characters you barely meet in the first act becoming key figures that have storylines that lead to nowhere. It was more than just a confusing movie. It made no sense. The real life reprocussions of any of these actions were null and we left the theater more annoyed than satisfied.
