This Before and After of Oakland’s Jacob Wilson Throwing, and Now Catching, A First Pitch From His Father Last Night In Pittsburgh Is Further Proof Baseball Is As Romantic As It Gets

While the world continues to lose its mind and go up in flames, its important to highlight the things that remind us about the good things in life. Stories like this touching text message, that went viral last week, from an 80-year-old guy thanking his softball teammates for letting him stay on their team.

Him crediting them with giving his old life purpose really pulled at the heart strings.

And now we get this heartfelt moment, or rather, sequence of moments, between former Pirate Jack Wilson, and his son, current Oakland A, Jacob.

Back in 2006, Jack Wilson’s 4 year old son Jacob got to toss him the first pitch. Fast forward 19 years and Jacob’s an All star shortstop, playing for Oakland, visiting Pittsburgh, and gets to return the favor for his old man.

Props to the Pirates in game production team for thinking this up and for allowing a visiting player to be involved in a first pitch in order to make this happen. The world could use a lot more of this right now.

And props to the Pirates production team for having this dandy clip ready to fire right after Wilson’s stellar play. (You know how much a love a good in game production squad)

I can’t even imagine the waterworks that Mrs. Wilson had to have going on during this real life Ray Kinsella moment.

They say “how can you not be romantic about baseball?”, and they’re right.

Give your old man a call today if you’re still lucky to have one around.

This is what it’s all about.
