Wanderlei Silva Just Got DQ'd In His Boxing Debut And Then Viciously KO'd In A Massive Post-Fight Brawl
TOUGH night for Wanderlei Silva; the 49-year-old MMA legend made his hybrid-boxing debut tonight against Acelino Freitas (who was filling in on short notice for an injured Vitor Belfort), and it did not go well.
"The Axe Murderer" had almost every advantage in this fight (AKA he's a year younger and weighed in over 40lbs heavier than his opponent) but still decided his gameplan would be to repeatedly foul Freitas, and even blatantly headbutt him....
....and Silva eventually got disqualified in the fourth round, which led to an all out brawl in the ring between the fighters' camps. Wanderlei got hit with a suckerpunch in the back of the head about six seconds into the video embedded below, which appeared to rock/wobble him, and then the same guy who threw that put his lights out with a devastating right hook about ten seconds later....
Such a scary knockout, especially knowing Wanderlei's concussion history - hopefully he's okay. Never a dull moment in MMA.
