I Love Joe Flacco, But The Browns Clearly Need To Move On And Give Their Rookie Quarterbacks A Look
They fooled me for a drive. The Browns came out, stopped the Lions, and then marched right down the field and Judkins punched it in from the one yard line. And coming off last week's improbable upset victory over the Packers, I started to actually drink the Orange and Brown Kool-Aid.
What if we were actually good? I mean, we had the Bengals dead to rights in Week 1 but couldn't make a simple kick. Sure, we lost at Baltimore, but we held Derick Henry to minimal yardage and besides, who wouldn't lose that game? Then we beat one of the NFL's best teams in the Packers, and we jumped out on top of the Lions in Detroit. Could I have been completely wrong about this team, and we actually be contenders to make the playoffs? The defense has looked Super Bowl caliber. Is it possible that the offense is coming along and getting better each week?
And then 5 seconds later the Lions scored and then 5 seconds after that, we had a nominee for Worst Interception in NFL History thrown by everyone's favorite QB, Joe Flacco.
And then another for good measure:
And upon further review, I was incorrect about this team after the first drive. But actually I was correct in the first place. The Browns do stink. And I don't want this to seem like a hit piece on Joe because I love him and everyone loves him, but what is our game plan here, boys? We have two rookie QBs. This team is NOT a contender. If all goes how it looks like it will, we'll be drafting in the Top 5 once again and probably in the market for a QB. Oh, and we have Deshaun Watson looking like he's going to be cleared to play at some point this season. So we we've got a million different people we need to see play in order for us to have an actual plan going forward, and we're trotting out the only one who is clearly not "the future" because he's 40 years old. And it'd be one thing if he was leading us to victories and giving us the best chance to win right now, but he's not doing that either….

So I guess I just don't understand the plan right now if we can't win right now. Why not go to Gabriel? And then mix in a little Sheduer? So next Spring when we are evaluating what to do with the #3 pick in the draft, we can have a clue if we still need a quarterback for the future or if he's already on the roster and we can build around him..
But once again, after another game where he gets sacked and throws more interceptions than touchdowns, Kevin Stefanski still won't entertain the idea of trying someone new under center.
Let me point this out though: he didn't say No. Last time he said No. This time he said it's not our focus.
I think it's coming soon….
