It's Never Been More Fitting That The US Choked Away The Ryder Cup By Missing A Putt On 18, Watching Shane Lowry Sink His
We had hope. We had a near miracle on our hands with the US being on fire. Then it happened. The same story, the same thing that's happened for the last 3 days. The US missed a putt only to watch Shane Lowry drill one right in our face.
Henley had the lead. He had a chance on 17 to make a putt and seal the win. He left it short. On 18 he hit the shot of his life:
He missed that putt. He somehow left it short. I don't know how you leave a putt short with the RYDER CUP on the goddamn line. Blow it by, I don't care about that, but you have to get it to the hole. You had two chances with a guy in Russell Henley who is known for his putting miss. It's fitting because it's what's happened all Ryder Cup.
I'll have more since there's 3 matches still out there, but the cup is over. Europe retains at least because of that missed putt and then Lowry draining it. It didn't matter who was out there the first two days, we didn't make any putts. We tried turning Bethpage into a putting contest and lost because of that. It would have taken a miracle, obviously, but we had the miracle in line. Henley just needed to tie on 18 and get that win because in the 3 remaining matches we have 2 leads and 1 being all square.
You can't leave that short.
