The Mets Long, Slow Death March Out Of The Playoffs Is Finally Over
As usual, GaryKeithAndRon did a better job summing up what we just watched than I ever could. The Mets decided to unleash the Doomsday Scenario on their fans' hearts by losing to the Marlins after the Brewers decided to play spoiler and beat the Reds. Not that it is a shock. Far from it. I have been saying for weeks that the Mets would make this as painful as possible for the fans based on the four month car crash we just witnessed and that's exactly what happened as they once again refuse to make the playoffs in back to back seasons as the Marlins kill the Mets with the meaningless win in Game 162 AGAIN.
On the bright side, I will not wonder about what could've been if the Mets made the playoffs because they didn't deserve to make it. You can't win a series in the last week of the season against the Nationals or the Marlins, you should be disqualified from participating in the playoffs. That simple. The starting pitching was an outright disaster, the hitting came up small in massive spots multiple times, and the bullpen blew whatever games the other two actually showed up for.
Now the question is where do we go from here, which will be asked in multiple ways about multiple people from players to coaches to the GM. We will be going in on a deep dive on tomorrow's We Gotta Believe live on YouTube at 10 am ET. So make sure to tune in for what should be a very angry and sad therapy session.
