What's New? The Yankees Blow Game 1 To Boston In Excruciating Fashion And Now Face Elimination On Wednesday

Well, that was extremely painful. Wasn't enough for Luke Weaver to come in and totally waste the brilliance of Max Fried. Or Boone refusing to pinch hit Ben Rice in a big spot for Austin Wells. I still cannot fathom why Boone thought this was the move even with Crochet still in there. Play Ben Rice, he's been one of your best hitters all year you fucking moron. Instead you get this and Wells bitching on a ball that caught plenty of plate.

Even the near collision in the outfield between Rafaela and Abreu was an extra twist of the knife. Nope, they had to load the bases with nobody out in the 9th only to not move a single runner. So fitting it makes me want to die.

Garrett Crochet was unbelievable, but that's what you expect. Max Fried did what he had to and even out-pitched him to an extent, exiting the game with the lead. Boone went to Luke Weaver and the game fell apart. Weaver has been rough in 2025, but I don't really fault the move in the moment. Maybe you could have rode Fried until he let someone on? In hindsight Cruz was the move or leave Fried, but at the end of the day Weaver has to get outs there instead of nibbling. You can't walk a feeble hitter like Rafaela after going ahead 0-2. After that they teed off and took the lead for good.

Just brutal after what Fried gave you. Unforgivable.

But they still had Chapman on the ropes there in the 9th with back to back to back singles from Goldy, Judge, and Bellinger. Stanton had the game in his hands and missed a few fastballs down the dick that he fouled straight back, Chapman delivered a nasty splitter to strike him out and take back momentum. Jazz and Grisham stood no chance after that.

Yankees go down 1-0 to Boston and now face elimination. If you asked me to start the day how this series was going to go I would have said they lose tonight, but win Games 2 and 3. More so just because Crochet is that good and the margins are going to be so microscopic to pull it out. Similar to how lights out Skubal was earlier in the day, that's what Boston got with their ace.

Fried being that stellar though gave them every chance to win still. Weaver just could not get it done. Leaving the bases loaded like that is the icing on the cake. Devastating in every way.

Rodon vs. Bello Wednesday night to keep the season alive.

p.S. Just saw this. Never had a shot.
