The Only Path For The Jets Is To Trade Everyone For Picks And Start Over

Rooting for your favorite team to lose sucks. It's even worse to do it when it's in September and it's an NFL team. It's the sports heartbreak equivalent of calling the police on your serial killer son when you've had to do this every year for for the past 15 seasons.

The Jets aren't just a sports embarrassment anymore. It's beyond that. It's so horrible being a Jets fan that people don't want to do it anymore. A lot of the Jets fans I talk to don't even really want to watch these games anymore. Why should they? It makes every Sunday feel pointless and depressing.

The Jets sit at 0-4. There is zero path to the playoffs for this team. Yet again. This plan isn't working. There are some talented players like Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. They need to trade everything and anyone they can for picks. Go 0-17. Who cares?

To go through another rebuild is obviously not what I want to do. But it's not even a rebuild. What are we "RE"building? You're just tearing down a crackhouse that was built on top of a landfill. This roster isn't going to work. Having a journeyman QB who is known more for running than passing is not a long term answer. There are some random pieces on this team that have value but the full picture is worthless.

I want them to trade anyone on this roster with any value at all for draft picks. Can Garrett Wilson get us a 2nd? Can Quinnen Williams bring back a 1st? I'd trade Nick Folk for a 7th at this point. Have this be like a Spencer's Gifts closing at a mall. Everything must go. Sell the fucking shelves.

Don't get me wrong. I have no faith in this organization to make the right choice. I don't think this will be like Jimmy Johnson drafting for the Cowboys. But, if you give the Jets enough draft picks, can they luck into great picks? A blind squirrel can find an acorn a lot easier if you throw a lot more on the ground.

I don't know what else this team should do. All of this feels so hopeless. It probably will be as long as Woody Johnson is involved. But I don't know what else they should do. Going 5-12 does nothing. That's a best case scenario of where this team is. You might as well get as many assets as possible and start over. Maybe a #1 overall pick by going 0-17 will be such a generational player that you can't miss with it. If that's not the case this year, try again next year. There is no other plan that makes sense to me. It's been 15 years.

It's not just awful being a Jets fan. It's hopeless as well.
