Protect The Kneecaps: Kyle Shanahan Made The Smart Decision And Named Dan Campbell As The No. 1 Pick In An NFL Coach Fight
In case you somehow missed it, Liam Coen and Robert Saleh got into a kerfuffle over sign-stealing allegations on Sunday. Some great lines, a lot of hold me back moves, but still rare to see coaches sort of go at it like that. Still hilarious to see coaches at any level get into a squabble because it's so rare. But, because of that Kyle Shanahan has to talk about it now:
Yeah, I think that's a fair bet. If I had to rank the top-10 head coaches in the NFL I'm taking in a fight I'm going:
10. Todd Bowles
9. Pete Carroll
8. Jim Harbaugh
7. Brian Daboll
6. Andy Reid
5. Aaron Glenn
4. Dan Quinn
3. DeMeco Ryans
2. Mike Vrabel
1. Dan Campbell
What you might notice is it's very AFC dominant. That's why this is a smart business decision by Kyle Shanahan. They don't play the Lions in the regular season this year, but you gotta protect your kneecaps early. Make sure to compliment Dan Campbell's fighting skills - or the fact he's seeing you talk with a full upper deck in and sipping coffee - just in case you see him in the playoffs.
It's a lesson that any person learns early in life, especially if you have big friends. You want to be on their good side as early as possible, even more so if you happen to be someone who runs their mouth a little bit. You gotta have the intimidation guy on your side who is willing to just stand by you when shit starts to happen. Shanahan is right, it wasn't a fight on Sunday, but it is hilarious. Need more of that sort of stuff going forward, add a little animosity to sports again. But really I just hope every coach has to come out with a list of who they are taking in a fight.
