'That WHAT Days?' - Baker Mayfield Will Never Miss A Chance To Make Fun Of The Panthers, Remind Everyone How Miserable It Was Playing There
A mere 3 years ago Baker Mayfield, one of the 43 saviors of the Browns, was traded to the Panthers. I know why, but it also feels way longer than 3.5 years ago. It was probably the stop with the Rams or the fact Baker has been awesome for the Bucs, it just feels longer than 3.5 years ago. Either way, it didn't work out. We did get the clip of Baker playing defense though:
But, obviously the Panthers suck. No one has a good time playing for them since the Super Bowl run outside of recent Chuba Hubbard. He brought up Steve Wilks earlier this year:
And now today he had this exchange:
Yeah that'll do it. Hard to say the good old days when you were lining up on defense because they decided to play PJ Walker over you. I also get that it wasn't this version of Baker on the Panthers, but it's still a dysfunctional franchise. You can run through the players they've had, the lack of success, David Tepper being a villain, whatever you want, it's clear Baker hates this franchise.
I do think Baker is in a rare area though. Rare in the sense that he was deemed a bust, made a comeback and everyone is now starting to come around on him being entertaining. He's the right kind of asshole, mostly because he's entertaining with how he makes fun of people and gets into stuff. Also helps that he's fun to watch as a player and is now one of the more clutch players in the league. But man, you almost have to feel bad for the Panthers at this point. At some point they'll figure it out, just not any time soon.
