A Norman Chipotle Employee Has Provided the Only Real Update on John Mateer's Status We've Received Going Into Oklahoma-Texas
Well there you have it, folks. Brent Venables can pretend to not know anything as long as he wants, but Cooper from the Norman Chipotle has given the world the inside scoop that John Mateer will, in fact, be on the field for the Red River Shootout on Saturday.
The Sooners have been practicing inside all week despite beautiful weather in central Oklahoma, leaving us with really nothing to go on other than Cooper's reporting. I'm pretty sure OU reporter Eddie Radosevich has been in a bush outside the facility since Monday trying to get some intel, but we still don't have anything definitive.
Mateer has to play, though, right? If he comes back from surgery in less than three weeks and beats Texas to preserve an undefeated season, he's an Oklahoma legend forever — though likely behind the man who made this all possible, Dr. Steven Shin.
We deserve Mateer on the field for one of the best games in college football in a season where he's given the Sooners a chance to be a title contender. Go out there and get after it, John.
