Someone Was Finally Able To Recreate The Boston Cop Slide Video

Newton discovering gravity. Edison coming up with electricity. Oppenheimer figuring out the bomb. Man walking on the moon. Idiots in Boston figuring out how to recreate the cop slide video. These are the great scientific breakthroughs of our time.

In case you somehow don't remember the Boston cop slide video (or just want a refresher)....

I genuinely think it's one of the funniest viral videos ever. I was in tears the first time I saw it, and still crack up watching it to this day. He's just coming down at such an unfathomable velocity it's hard to imagine how that was possible; and as far as I know, nobody has really had an answer for years! I think the city claimed it was because the slide wasn't meant for adults - but plenty of adults went down just fine. Some have suggested the officer's equipment on his belt worked almost like an ice skate and helped remove friction....others have said something as simple as rainy conditions and the right fabric could have you shot down the slide like that poor cop.

Shoutout to these brilliant minds for putting these hypotheses to the test and successfully getting a full recreation. It does appear the rainy conditions/tracksuit may hold a big impact. Of course, they couldn't fully recreate the speed captured in the original video because that officer was a bigger boy, but I still applaud the effort.

Galileo looked through a telescope; these brave souls looked down a slide.

P.S. I don't want to see my coworkers get hurt, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't want to see a group of em trying to recreate the cop slide video on Barstool After Dark. Imagine the Mintzy noises.
