UFC Vancouver Has Had Flying Knees, Finish Controversies, And More Madness Already

UFC Vancouver has gotten off to a HOT start up north tonight - after ten fights, we've seen eight finishes and plenty of highlights....and I think some would even argue we've seen nine finishes! We'll get into that in a second.

For starters, check out some of the big knockouts and submissions from the card....

One of those finishes - Drew Dober TKOing Kyle Prepolec - was a bit controversial because Dober was hurt, landed an illegal strike that Prepolec took a while to recover from (while Dober himself recharged) and he immediately stepped on the gas and won the fight when it resumed. That "controversy" was immediately one-upped by Kyle Nelson vs Matt Frevola, however....

As JackMac explains, referee Dan Miragliotta stepped in and separated the fighters with three seconds left in the fight round, as Nelson was pouring on ground-and-pound in what looked like the end of the fight. Nelson went over to Frevola and thanked him or whatever, Frevola (clearly stunned) seemingly nodded as if to say "Good fight." - and then Big Dan said it ain't over! Nelson and Frevola went back to their corners and wound up fighting for two more rounds! Frevola looked pretty damn good in the second round as well! It was complete and total madness, and resulted in a lot of nasty chants and boos towards Miragliotta - typically a great referee. He just heard a phantom horn tonight.

Once again, I can't help but notice how much better these cards are with a sold out crowd going bonkers for every fight (even if they're obstructing the referee's judgement) - the improvement in energy over the Apex is immeasurable. Still three fights left!
