The Sunday 1pm Slate Was Some Of The Worst Football We've Watched And It's Even More Reason To Stop The Dumb Monday Night Double Headers

I saw this from the Mostly Sports guys which reminded me of this tweet from SVP yesterday:

The 1pm slate has been absolute horseshit lately and it's pretty simple to figure out why. Double headers on Monday Night, games in London, throw in the Thursday Night Game and Sunday Night Game and you get this:

Not to sound like an old man, but back in my day the 1pm slate was always the slate you couldn't miss. It was loaded with games, they were close and it didn't matter who was on byes or playing Monday Night. Instead we get, well, this

You have Troy Aikman saying the NFL is a bad product these days:

He's not wrong. The NFL decided to chase every single penny it could, get all these different partners and time slots and the fans are the ones who suffer. We're stuck trying to watch bad teams play in this 1pm slate. It got forgotten about because of the importance (money) to standalone games. There's just no need to have a Thursday night, a Sunday morning, Sunday Night and double header on Monday Night when teams are on byes. Not to mention one of the games tonight is at 10pm! How the hell does that make sense for fans across the country, which is the point of the NFL, right?

I'm fully aware you can't predict the outcome of these games and there are far too many bad teams in the NFL. No one wants to watch the Titans or Raiders. Those teams are miserable watches. Same for the Dolphins, just a pointless team to ever have on TV. I don't even know if the Jets can complete a forward pass, but here they are too. We can flex all these games, it's time to bring back the 1pm slate. That was always football, plus I miss when Monday Night Football felt important too. A double header takes away from that.
