The NFL Is Once Again Talking About A '4th And 15th' Play To Get The Ball Back Because The New Onside Kick Rules Have Sucked

Man, if only there was a simple solution to keep onside kicks fun and a real chance to get the ball back. I can't quite figure it out though, maybe, just maybe, there's like 75 years of history to look back on. Maybe just this play?

A top-10 play in Super Bowl history can no longer happen. Instead you have to announce you're doing it and all this other lame shit. So instead of just going back to normal kicks, we're doing a 4th and 15 play to get the ball back. Sure. That'll work just fine. Not like the league throws a ton of flags every single play and any underthrown pass is pass interference.

I'm just speaking from a fan standpoint here. There's something about seeing a true onside kick. There's something about the hands team racing out there when they can feel it coming, the kicker finding his bitch and that big hop before the mayhem.

At the minimum give me the XFL rules if you're going to go this gimmicky

My point is it's football. We don't need to overthink a ton of rules. People are already complaining about how bad the product has been, a bunch of flags, injuries and everything else that's gone into this season (and past). Sometimes in order to go forward, you need to go back. Just make football simple again. It's not that difficult of a game and the last thing I want to do is give refs more of a chance to throw a flag.
