Catching Up With An Old Friend While Running The Gauntlet Is Highly Recommended

We were talking about tickets and I asked if any of the guys had ever scalped tickets back in the day. Now with apps like Gametime, that role is basically obsolete. But I had Knicks season tickets from 2010-2019 and sold my fair share of tickets in the early days on Craigslist. It led to some interesting experiences but one time, I made a friend. He was a Bulls fan and was in town to see the Derrick Rose led Bulls. I met him outside a hotel and made the exchange and we got to chatting. He was a huge NBA guy and was in town on work. We chatted for maybe 15 minutes.

We ended up texting about that game quite a bit and then just became NBA friends texting with league happenings everyone once in awhile. He had an NBA blog at the time and we were early twitter friends. We linked up 2-3 times over the years at different NBA games and events. However over the last 5-7 years, the communication had gotten sparse.

But yesterday that all changed as when I told the story of Jim and I initially meeting, the guys told me to give him a call. Big Cat said he'd buy me any Bucs jersey I like if I could keep him on the phone for 10 minutes. Sounded like a win-win to me!

It was great catching up with Jim and hearing what's going on. He moved to Texas and his life is much different now. But I always love talking hoops with my buddy. During the call, Brandon told me they wanted me to run The Gauntlet while on the call. That was a tough ask, but I made it happen. Tried not to rush and get out of breath as that'd be super weird and just keep finding out the latest with my friend. I'm not going to divulge most of it, but he's a good guy and I loved catching up. And now we're back texting again. It's hard to find NBA league pass friends to send a quick note to late night, so I'm happy to reignite our text chat.

Turns out, Jim was happy to hear from me too.
